P/Q Dock Hoist Funding Approved

On January 5, the Anacortes Port Commission approved funding for maintenance work to enhance the P/Q Dock hoist. The contract with Washington Crane of Seattle will allow for extension of the crane arm by 3 feet and move the hoist motor to the mast, allowing for easier and faster launch and recovery of small, mast-up sailboats. Again, this year’s Quick and Dirty Boat Building during the Waterfront Festival is fast approaching… QUICKly, with less than 3 weeks to the competition and participants chomping at the bit to get moving forward with their thinking and designs.

We have many teams returning to give it a go again. Yet, because we’ve added space, there is room for another this year. If you want to participate, grab some fellow workers or friends and come to compete.

This coming Saturday, May 15th marks the 3rd annual Waterfront Festival Quick and Dirty Boat Building.

To all Small Boat Enthusiasts:

It’s moving along… slowly… but we hope to see the P/Q Dock Hoist approved for testing and then use in the very near future. There has been a snag and it is being worked out.

See the note below, received today from Jenkins Dossen the project manager for the P/Q Dock project. He has been working diligently to help us get to a community testing stage.

Meeting Schedule

Regular meetings are on the first Monday of each month. (2/1, 3/1, 4/5, 5/3,6/7...)

Working meetings (when needed) are scheduled on the third Monday of each month and announced by an e-mail to members.

Board of Directors meetings and Annual Elections will be announced by an e-mail to membership at least 10 days in advance of the meeting.

All Monday meetings are held at 6:30PM at the Anacortes Yacht Club, 504 7th St., Anacortes, WA.
